Neuromodulator versus Fillers
We get asked this all the time and so I thought it was time to clear the air and demystify the common misconceptions regarding both Neuromodulator and fillers. Before I even begin, I will preface by saying: Neuromodulator and fillers are two completely different injectables that do two completely different jobs, but I guess since they both have the common power to make subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) changes to site of injection, it makes sense that they get confused.
Let’s focus on Neuromodulator for a minute. Neuromodulator contains a purified bacterial toxin called botulin, which freezes muscles. By injecting the targeted area, the muscles are frozen so as to minimize (if not, completely impede) muscle movement. In so doing, fine lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions are prevented from deepening or becoming more visible, because by restricting movement, your skin will no longer be exposed to continuous use or strain. This temporary freezing both prevents future wrinkles as well as reducing the current visible signs of aging.
So that’s Neuromodulator in a nutshell. Now, let’s move on to fillers. Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, calcium, or other soft tissue fillers. Used to add fullness to areas that have thinned or lost volume, fillers smooth out facial folds and wrinkles. Working in tandem with Neuromodulator or on its own, fillers temporarily fill a line or crease (hence the name fillers). Fillers can also do the job of subtly smoothing out uneven facial structures such as a nose that comes up higher on one side or a chin that squares off unevenly.
Fillers typically last anywhere from 9 to 12 months.
Finally, let’s take a look at the face to better understand injectable treats which area.
