You don’t have to live with the symptoms of Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory facial skin condition that affects one in twenty people. Rosacea can worsen if left untreated.
Rosacea is described as facial redness and blushing that comes and goes, causing itching and burning breakouts, pimples, and enlarged blood vessels. The condition can also affect the eyes.

Rosacea Symptoms
Although symptoms vary from one individual to another, common rosacea symptoms include:
- Constant redness due to enlarged blood vessels becoming visible
- Repeated blushing on cheeks, chin, forehead, and nose
- Dry skin
- Burning, itching, stinging sensation on the skin
- Breakouts and pimples (without blackheads)
- Bloodshot eyes
Who is Affected by Rosacea
Rosacea affects both men and women of adult age. First symptoms can appear between the ages of 30 and 50. Although this condition can develop in people of any skin type, those with fair skin seem to be more affected by it.
More severe cases of rosacea generally occur in men.
Causes of Rosacea
Although scientists cannot confirm what causes rosacea, they believe that it is due to a mixture of genetics and environmental factors. Other theories include:
- Low immune system
- Chronic sun exposure
- Skin mite
- Bacteria associated with gastrointestinal ulcers
It is important to note that, once the condition is present, certain factors will cause skin flare-ups. Therefore, limiting your exposure to triggers that cause skin inflammation, will help to naturally prevent rosacea symptoms.

Types of Rosacea
Rosacea types are defined by its four different levels of severity. Patients will most often start by developing a mild form of rosacea which may worsen over time.
Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea
This is a mild form of rosacea. Symptoms include redness, visible blood vessels, and some occasional burning and itching of the skin.
Papulopustular Rosacea
In this moderate form of the condition, redness and breakouts are persistent. Appearance can be mistaken for severe acne.
Rhinophyma Rosacea
This advanced form of rosacea affects the skin tissue around the nose. Tissues become thicken and bumpy, giving the nose and surrounding area an enlarged appearance. This form of rosacea most often affects men.
Ocular rosacea
In addition to the skin tissue, ocular rosacea can affect the patient’s eyes, causing mild to severe symptoms. In extreme cases, ocular rosacea can cause vision loss.
Rosacea Treatment Options
Doctors can prescribe medication and other treatments to reduce the symptoms of rosacea. If you are experiencing symptoms of rosacea, consult a medical practitioner that can diagnose the condition.
